Ephesians and Philippians
Paul’s letter to the Ephesians explains the great spiritual blessings that Christians possess “in Christ.” It emphasizes that our Lord is highly exalted at the Father’s right hand, reigning as the head over His church. This one body, comprised of diverse members, is called to unity in the faith and a lifestyle that imitates God. The letter also reminds us that we are engaged in a spiritual battle that requires the full armor of God and continued vigilance.
The letter to the Philippians commends Christians who have fellowship in the spread of the gospel. Paul’s challenge to believers is to live as citizens of the kingdom of heaven, being unified in one Spirit. This unity comes from imitating Christ, who modeled humility in His incarnation on earth. Like Christ, we must experience suffering and persecution before being exalted.
Jay Lockhart and David L. Roper draw from years of study and ministry to engage their readers in a challenging walk through these letters. All students of God’s Word will benefit from this course.
